6-29-17 5:55 PM EST: My really good friend from work is going to have a very complicated surgery tomorrow. She had a stroke in January and has been unable to return to work since. Mandy is the kind of person who lights up the entire 192K square foot store, boundless energy wrapped in a beautiful smiling package. She was one of the very first people hired to work at our store and one of the first outside of management to get full time...kind of the backbone of my work family. Mandy is the kind of woman who will stand up for anybody, and will jump in and help wherever she is needed.

Mandy is also the mother of 4 great kids aged 5-15 and has been a baseball mom for her 3 boys for many years. Her husband Eric is a veteran, a mechanic, and baseball and tee ball coach for the boys teams. They are a hard-working, God-loving, all American family.

This past 6 months that Mandy has been out of work has been really hard on the family, not only financially, but emotionally as well. After Mandy’s stroke she also suffered some siezures. She’s gone through cat scans, MRI’s, countless blood tests, many specialists and finally landed at a neurosurgeon who will be performing her surgery tomorrow at 11:30 am.

Mandy has what is called a Chiari malformation…"Chiari malformation (kee-AH-ree mal-for-MAY-shun) is a condition in which brain tissue extends into your spinal canal. It occurs when part of your skull is abnormally small or misshapen, pressing on your brain and forcing it downward." (Mayo Clinic). The surgery she will have tomorrow will be to remove part of her skull and at least one vertebrae. They will also scrape around her brainstem to allow for more room for her brain.

Needless to say, Mandy is really anxious about her surgery, recovery, and is unsure of what the future holds for her and her family. I am asking all of my friends here to please lift Mandy up in prayer. We know that God can give her a peace that passes all understanding and a complete healing.

Also, (if you are inclined), I started a GoFundMe page for her several months ago and any financial help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
