November 10, 1775: Birth of the U.S. Marine Corps. SALUTE!

11-10-15  9:53 AM EST: "During the American Revolution, the Continental Congress passes a resolution stating that “two Battalions of Marines be raised” for service as landing forces for the recently formed Continental Navy. The resolution, drafted by future U.S. president John Adams and adopted in Philadelphia, created the Continental Marines and is now observed as the birth date of the United States Marine Corps.

"Hope Rides On" an Exclusive Article by American Duckie!

Recently I had a chance to attend a special event which is held every year to honor the life, memory, and legacy of Sgt. Eddie Jeffers. Eddie was a soldier in Iraq when I first heard of him, by reading an article he had written called "Hope Rides Alone" which appeared on the New Media Journal early in 2007.

They Came In Peace: October 23, 1983, by American Duckie

10-23-15 4:25 PM EST: October 23, 1983 is a day which is remembered by many.

On this day 32 years ago, terrorist attacks against U.S. and French Service members in Beirut killed 299; 241 of them Americans. They were killed when an Iranian suicide bomber drove an explosive laden truck through the U.S. Marine barracks for the 1st Battalion 8th Marines. Out of the 241 American servicemen killed, 220 were Marines, 18 sailors, and three soldiers.

9-24-15 4:24 PM EST: As an Air Force kid who grew up on many different Air Bases arond our country, I was always fascinated by all the different planes our military had in it's arsenal. Used to love going down to the flightline and watch them take off and land. They flew over our baseball games, school playground, and house a lot too.
