The population was estimated at 5.3 million; the barrier that the Appalachian Mountains represented had been over-come. The British still controlled large portions of the lands west of the Appalachian Mountains and declared them off limits to all but the Indian Tribes. But as the American government no longer formally recognized British sovereignty over these lands settlement continued near unabated.

12-31-16: 7:00 PM EST: 2017! We made it through another year! As we look back on 2016 there have been many changes in our lives and in our country, but we will focus on our lives and music tonight. Some of us faced illness whether it was a family member, friends, or ourselves. There is one who has heard our prayers and we all give Him thanks for hearing them.

Some North Michigan Pictures and a Thursday Night Open Thread

1-5-17 8:00 PM EST: Good evening friends. Nothing in the news much interested me today, and I've been feeling a little on the reclusive withdrawn side too. But I did go out in the yard and took a few pictures. Had to go to town in order to do a couple of things too, so I brought the camera with me and took a few more at a few different spots.

12-31-16 12:00 PM EST: As the land filled up along the creeks and rivers, the migrants were forced into lands further and further from the coastal areas. The desire for land was so great the populace began to look at the "Blue Ridge". That far ridge was but a "blue bruise" on the horizon; the barrier to expansion that as time went by could no longer hold back the flood of settlers.
